The beginnings of walking can look very clumsy. Children learn to place their legs correctly, walk on a wide base, because they are just beginning to learn to stay up-right in this position, practicing their balance. What should worry you?
Placing their feet inwards
Do not worry if the feet will keep going inwards until the age of 3. Of course, there are a few elements to keep in mind. First of all, you should pay attention to how the child sits down. If we see that the favorite or the only position is to sit in the letter "W", in infancy there was a problem with, for example, hip dysplasia, or the toes are wrapped inside or the entire foot has the shape of a crescent, it is worth consulting a physiotherapist. The reason why the feet are placed inwards may be, for example, by contracture of the hip adductors or some other defect in the structure of the foot. The physiotherapist will verify the reason for placing feet in this way and give appropriate instructions so that we can safely enjoy the next new skills of our child.
Tiptoeing
There may be many reasons for this condition. For the most part, however, it is one of the elements of learning to walk, the beginning of getting up next to the furniture. When kids stand on their toes, they increase the muscle tone in the torso, which makes it much easier for them to maintain this position. However, by the age of 2, this symptom should disappear. However, if this is not the case, you should consult a physiotherapist or a sensory integration therapist, because the problem may lie, for example, in the hypersensitivity of the foot, in the incorrect reception of sensory stimuli by the little feet of children. The consequences of tiptoeing can be very serious and affect not only the feet, calf muscle contracture, but also the structure of our spine and the child's body posture.
